Multiple Campaigns In Same Account Using Same Keywords?

Can I have multiple campaigns using the same keywords?

Hi all.

I've just become an affiliate for a widget site.

I'd like to buy the same keywords and run them in two different campaigns in the same Adwords account. Each campaign will each have different ads and each will go to different URLs (with 2 different approaches to marketing widgets).

As best as I can tell this seems OK by Google's guidelines as long as the URLs are unique. But I wanted to see what you all thought about having two campaigns with the same keywords in the same account before I used this approach. I definitely don't want to get penalized in any way.

Thanks!

you can have the two campaigns with same keywords but only one will show at a time.

You can't serve two ads at the same time from that same account using the same keywords.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Jimmy. You can accomplish what you're trying to do within each ad group without duplicating each keyword. Within an ad group, you can run multiple ads, test different URLs, and control whether your impressions are split evenly (or weighted to the best performer). Good luck!
